Laundry Wand Noise Show
Los Angeles Female Commercial Product Photographer Director: Color, Humor, Sustainability, Joy
When Cordey texted me and asked that I photograph a show he was setting up at Laundry Wand I immediately responded no. Then I felt this wave of warm memories come over me. As a teenager I spent several nights of the week photographing bands and community members in the DC Punk and Hardcore scene. I would post triggered lights around a stage and set myself up in the best spot I could find to capture the idiosyncratic bands and overtly violent or stylized crowds. Young punks would pose for portraits for me in liberty spikes or dickies blue work wear. It was a thrill to be amidst that chaos and crowds. And my photos reflected those roiling teenage emotions.
On March 22nd, 2024 at the laundry wand I took a similar approach, letting the fervent music and crowd guide my direction for the photos. I did all effects in camera/lens and went to play in the field.
While my photography practice is studio based. It’s always a good mesure to break things up and see what you can learn in a new space. The group efervessence was a thrill and I caught some fun moments.
Bands pictured are: Baby Aspirin DVD, Black Puss/Brian Chippendale, Galecstasy and Mike Watt, Muscle Beach, Mean Streetz.

It all begins with an idea.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
